Rick and Morty Season 5 Episode 5: Recap

Rick and Morty season 5 episode 5 starts with a “Guy’s Night”. Rick and Jerry are on it to strengthen their bond and spend some time with each other. However, it is revealed that Rick is only spending time with Jerry because of the race of sadist Cenobites. Now, Beth also joins the duo on their way and Beth comes to know that Rick isn’t interested and is only using Jerry to appease the murderous Cenobites. Therefore, she plans to stop the mocking of her husband. 

However, in the other scene, Morty and Summer have failed to impress the local kids there. Between all this, it’s good to see Summer and Morty seeing their bonding even stronger. Now soon, they realize that they have formulated a plan to impress Bruce to take them on a “Rickventure”. Morty manages to get into Rick’s car security as he claims that Rick is in danger. Now, Summer and Morty finally manage to impress Bruce by taking him into outer space. Rick gets to know about Marty’s plan and manages to understand that he was lying. Therefore, he manages to create a self-designed AI system, which creates intimacy with another vehicle. Apart from it, Rick’s car also makes a self-destruction mode which would be enabled if Rick likes too. 

It seems that Bruce isn’t knowledgeable about it and even being in high school, it’s too much for him. Even after this all, he isn’t terrified from the acts that are going on and believes that Summer and Morty would save him. Now, Rick’s car tells Summer about his mind, Rick, before making his car. The car makes Summer feel safe and helps the kids escape. 

Now, Beth comes into the scene and both of them have to rescue Jerry from Hell. But Rick soon realizes that after demons inform him that Jerry needs Rick’s “too-cool-to-care-attitude” to get them free. So Rick continues to not be carefree as it makes him cringe just like Jerry. Rick feels that there is some love within him for Jerry as they make him a part of their escape plan. Now, Summer and Morty even realize the same and conclude that Bruce’s posing is cringe. 

After realizing all the cringe, and removing the inner cringe, the family is now safe and Rick ensures Jerry that they would trade him in heartbeat and that would make him love and with affection. Now the scene comes back to Summer and Morty, who are informed by Bruce that he enjoyed the time spent with them. However, he said that he can’t promise about the friendship as without knowing the state of the school he can’t do anything. Though, after this, both the siblings enjoy seeing Bruce getting scolded because of wearing the same pants on two consecutive days. The episode ends here and it looks like Bruce is going to be with Summer and Morty even in the next episodes for better entertainment.
