Another season of The Masked Singer has come to an end, and another shrouded vocalist has been crowned.

The conclusion Although the show lasted only an hour, it featured five outstanding performances, two elimination rounds, and three surprises. The Prince took the stage first, doing a spirited rendition of Coldplay’s “Viva La Vida,” followed by Firefly, who performed Usher’s “Bad Girl,” and Ringmaster, who finished the first round with Sara Bareilles’ “Gravity.”

In this season’s finals, the show opted to approach things a little differently than in previous seasons. Bringing in two distinct rounds and thus two different eliminations. The Prince was the first to be eliminated, which was a royally awful experience. Before the reveal, Robin Thicke predicted Ricky Martin as the amphibious royal, while Jenny McCarthy-Wahlberg chose Ben Platt.

It was another blue-eyed brunette with an excellent jawline — actor and singer (and Bomer’s American Horror Story costar) Cheyenne Jackson — who went amusingly close to Matt Bomer. Only Nicole Scherzinger was correct in the end. It was revealed to be Jackson, and it’s a shame the show didn’t have the Golden Ear Trophy for the judges this season since Scherzinger would have won.

The host informs the panelists that the candidate is “quite emotional” on stage

Following the performance, host Nick Cannon informs the panelists that the candidate is “very emotional” on stage. Before leaving the stage, she squeezes Cannon.

Ringmaster finished things off on a lighter note with a lively rendition of Katy Perry’s “Waking Up in Vegas”. When it came time to vote, though, the power vocalist’s performance wasn’t enough, and Firefly was declared the victor. The radiant candidate was definitely taken aback by the news. Cannon says, “It feels so nice,” as she chokes up audibly.

The runner-up was unmasked first, as is customary, before she was unveiled for good. The panellists’ guessing was by far the poorest of the night, with none of them getting it correctly. Thicke chose Maren Morris, Scherzinger chose Lucy Hale, Jeong stuck with his previous choice of Hailee Steinfeld, and McCarthy-Wahlberg chose Hayden Panettiere from the left field. The circus kitty turned out to be Hayley Orrantia, star of The Goldbergs and a singer.

The panelists did much better with the night’s last announcement

Monica was chosen by Scherzinger, and Alicia Keys was chosen by Jeong, but it was McCarthy-Wahlberg and Thicke who got it right in the end, choosing R&B singer-songwriter, actress, and model Teyana Taylor.

And with that, another season of this bizarre celebrity singing competition comes to a close. Get your magnifying glasses and search engines ready for Season 8 of The Masked Singer, which premieres on Fox this fall.
