Lucasfilm has announced Filoni will assume the role of executive creative director, where he will oversee all aspects of the company’s Star Wars franchise, including animation, licensing, and publishing. Lucasfilm and Disney have given their hit trailers a makeover. They are giving the Star Wars saga a dramatic refresh, reworking the trailer for The Clone Wars and The Mandalorian with new character designs.
The Internet rejoiced yesterday when news broke that Dave was promoted to director and executive producer of Star Wars Rebels from the director and executive producer of Star Wars. But as the reporters and other channels reached to them they told that he has been holding the position for a long time and there is nothing new here.
Dave Filoni, supervising director of the “Star Wars Rebels” TV series, has been at it for a while now. Lucasfilm told the reporters that Filoni will continue to focus on the upcom ing second season of “Rebels,” as well as more entry points into the larger Star Wars canon. Dave Filoni grew up in Northern New Jersey, watching The Empire Strikes Back in the theater when it was released. His love for Star Wars could hardly be contained. He joined Lucasfilm in 2005 as an animation supervisor on Star Wars.
When Dave Filoni isn’t writing characters like Hera Syndulla, Kanan Jarrus, Sabine Wren, and Captain Rex into fan favorites Star Wars Rebels and Star Wars Resistance, he’s working with Jon Favreau on the upcoming live-action series The Mandalorian. While we don’t know much about the upcoming series, some of the show’s stars have joined him and Lucasfilm to tweet about the fearless leader. The future of Star Wars is being unveiled, and it’s going to be amazing.
