‘Betty’: After Two Seasons HBO Canceled Crystal Moselle Skateboarding Series
2 min readThe cancellation of “Betty” has arrived after two lovely seasons. HBO telecasted the whole series. Directed by Crystal Moselle “Betty” is a comedy series for teenage kids based on a film. The film through which “Betty” is acclaimed is “Skate Kitchen”. The whole plot is about a group of girls pursuing skateboards and trying to use the male-dominated playboard. The decision of the cancellation occurred in August 2021. The series “Betty” got great reviews from the public. It got 6.9 out of 10 from IMDB. The most interesting part of the show is that it has no sets. Both the seasons have 6 episodes each. The audience admires the situation-based and unique names of the episode. Episodes are of 29 to 31 minutes each.
The girls want to be skateboarders and their challenges are shown in the show. HBO said that “We will not be moving forward with the third season of ‘Betty, We are very grateful for the collaboration with Crystal and our incredible cast — their fearless exploration of the world of New York City’s skate culture will remain a beautiful emblem of friendship and community.”
The stars of “Betty” include Dede Lovelace (Janay), Nina Moran (Kirt), Kabrina Adams (Honeybear), and Ajani Russell (Indigo). The second season premiered on June 11, 2020. The series got global recognition and was hugely famous. Caroline Framke of Variety gave the Title Of Critic’s Pick Of 2020 to “Betty”.
“Betty” tries to capture the teenager’s feelings. The depiction of the streets, vehicles, traffic, and the roads in which the shooting occurred made the show interesting. The girl gang skateboards through all the bridges, parks, traffic lights, vehicles, etc, giving the required authenticity to the show. The actors who recurred for season 2 are Katerina Tannenbaum, Caleb Eberhardt, Reza Nader, CJ Ortiz, Alexander Cooper, Jules Lorenzo. Also Roble Ali, Andrew Darnell, Isabel Palma, Moises Acevedo and Callender Abdul.The executive producers of “Betty” are Alliah Mourad, Jason Weinberg, and Crystal Moselle.
The show’s idea of presenting the beautiful New York’s Skate culture and friendship will remain in the community for many years.
