Mark said the reason behind this is that the “Facebook “name does not encompass everything it does now. The company is betting big on the metaverse project which they think is the future of the internet. Mark Zuckerberg, now the CEO of Meta said “From now on, we’re going to be the metaverse first. Not Facebook first,”
The idea behind the change of name from “Facebook” to “Meta”?
Mark Zuckerberg announced that Facebook’s name would change to Meta. The idea behind the change is that Facebook does not encompass the objective. Mark described it as a “virtual environment.” You can go inside it without actually going in it. You will be able to feel the endless world, interconnected world communities where anyone can meet with each other. You can work and play using augmented reality glasses and headsets.
Mark mentioned that their mission would remain the same. It will remain the same company that is connecting people all over the world.
So, the idea behind the whole change of name is to connect with people more closely. The pandemic has made people around us lonely, but this new update will change many lives.

Mark said we all are in the digital era, and we need privacy and safety. The Metaverse has been made keeping in mind privacy and security. The Metaverse will have parental control, privacy standards, and data use which was previously lacking. In the end, Mark said, “Advertisements will still be part of the social media platform. Ads are the important part of the social media strategy, so it will probably be the meaningful part of Metaverse too.”
