Who Is Cori Benjamin? Why He Issues An Apology?
Cori Benjamin is the daughter of Corey Benjamin, an American professional basketball player. He played in the NBA from 1998 to 2003. His 15-year-old daughter, caught on camera as she punched her opponent Lauryn Ham. While playing a basketball tournament in Orange County, Corey’s daughter knocks down the opponent to the floor. As per the game rules, the referee whistled. The whole incident was recorded and went viral. The victim’s mother while reporting about the incident said that it was Cori’s mother who told her to “attack” the victim, as per the reports. As a result, the brutal punch left the victim with a concussion.
After knowing this incident, Corey Benjamin issues an apology by saying that’s not the way how he raised her daughter. He was saddened after watching such behavior. He also said that he will pray for the victim’s physical and emotional healing. Corey Benjamin apologized to the family of the victim as well by saying that the girl does not deserve what happened to her and regrets it. Finally, he apologized for the impact that went on people and victim’s mother by the actions of her daughter. He is ready to support them in every way and wishes best.
Additionally, he said, that her daughter made a mistake. He will help his daughter by giving support and help in taking her accountability for her actions. As a father, he was in shock and disappointed because of actions of her daughter as their family never gave such values and standards. He said it was not the character, spirit, and values of true sportsmanship that were required for this game.

The lawyer of the victim said it’s more about the two girls playing in a match and one hitting the other. As per the referee’s statement Cori’s mother was the one who shouted “you better go hit her” while the game was on. The lawyer says it is shocking to hear a mother telling her daughter to go and hit. The SoCal Blaze team was doing up by 15 points.
The victim’s mother considers it as an assault and filed a case against them. The lawyer said that the family wants to see mother and daughter be questioned by the law.
