Something Awful, a well-known comedy website loses its owner. Richard ‘Lowtax’ Kyanka was a 45-year-old founder of the “Something Awful”. The news of his death has received confirmation from the forum administrator of the website “Something Awful”.

Alex Hern Posted a tweet by saying, “Richard ‘Lowtax’ Kyanka, the founder of Something Awful has died. A strong case for him being one of the most influential cultural figures of the Internet age.”
The news said by the forum administrator Fragmaster is getting viral, over the Internet, at a pace. The death of 45-year-old Richard has become the saddest news of today.

By showing concern and grief, Fragmaster wrote: “I guess I should preface this by saying this isn’t a joke especially since I’m posting for like t he first time in ten years or something, but I got bad news today directly from Rich’s family. Lowtax has passed away.”

Adding on he said, “I didn’t ask for details. I don’t know the details. I don’t know what the current opinion of Rich here is. Not here to answer questions, I’m sharing the news. I really hate to share this news. But there you go.”
The news of Richard’s death is also confirmed by his partner on a forum post, who also works for Something Awful under the name LadyAmbian.

Who was Richard Kyanka?

A Well known website i.e. Something Awful, which was a blog and forum site, was founded by Richard Kyanka. Later it gained a huge fan base and its popularity made the name “Richard Kyanka” famous.
Once he was a student of Vanderbilt University but later became a dropout. His hometown was Lees Summit, Missouri.

All these details had been dragged out from his original Facebook account. His account also states that he was a writer and working for GameSpy. His recent work includes the establishment of a YouTube channel, named “Gaming Garbage” which was a platform for him to upload his recording playing video games.

What is Something Awful?

In 1999, a personal blog website channel was set up by Richard Kyanka that later grew and became a site for forums, articles, and media reviews.

In the list of “100 websites that shape the Internet as we know it”, the forum was ranking at 89th rank. According to an interview with Vice, in 2017, Richard shared the idea that helped him to grow his website from the initial stage to a successful media platform.

He said, “’ Something awful’ was a catchphrase that I used to use. As in, ‘Wow, that Del Taco burrito sure is something awful’,” he put an example. “One day I said I should really register that as a website.” His friend said, “what are you going to put there?”, then h said, “I don’t know, I just really want to register it.”

Then he added, “So I did and I moved the original site I had on tripod.com since back in 1996 called RK Central and put the stuff on [SA], which included my old ICQ pranks and things like that.”

Later in October 2020, the founder of “Something Awful”, Richard, sold his website and wrote on his Facebook account that, “I just signed away the rights to something awful, goodbye, good riddance.”
