25-year-old Maurissa Gunn and 32-year-old Riley Christian met each other on the sets of the seventh season of Bachelor in Paradise. They were the first black couple to get engaged and their engagement took place in August 2021. This was one of the major highlights of the ABC show as it marked a historic milestone as well. Sources reveal that this was one of the reasons why the show was a massive hit. The news of their engagement delighted the fans.

At that time, the couple said they wanted to lead their daily lives and do regular activities. Alongside, they focussed on building a connection with each other. However, they did not dive into their wedding planning much. They visited Detroit, which happens to be Riley Christian’s hometown. Moreover, they even celebrated Thanksgiving together with Maurissa Gunn’s family in Montana. In addition, the couple celebrated Christmas together and posted pictures while posing with their Christmas tree.

“We Have Decided To Go Our Separate Ways“

The rumors of their split started making rounds on the Internet when Maurissa Gunn deleted pictures of her fiancé from her social media account. She even deleted the picture wherein they were celebrating Christmas together. After a series of cryptic tweets, the couple has confirmed the news of their breakup.

The couple reported that they have decided to live their separate lives and go on their own ways. They have both admitted that they need to work on themselves, and hence, find it best to end their engagement. They have asked for privacy so as to deal with the matter.

However, post their breakup, they have been quite active on social media. In an adorable video posted to her Instagram Story, Maurissa Gunn celebrated “Margarita Monday”. Riley had posted a shirtless photo of himself on Instagram two days earlier accompanied by a cryptic caption about “failure.”
