Peter Robbins, the man who brought Charlie Brown’s character to life, committed suicide on Tuesday night.

Voice Actor Peter Robbins Commits Suicide

Peter Robbins, the American actor and a former child artist dies at the age of 65 due to suicide. His family confirmed the news of his demise on Tuesday. The family has asked for privacy at this time as they are grieving the loss of the star. However, the actor suffered from mental illness and was a victim of bipolar disorder for a major part of his life.

There were several occasions wherein Peter Robbins was admitted in rehab. He even made criminal threats against many people and even ended up going to prison. However, later he did manage to turn his life around. He was under the influence of drugs and alcohol for a long time.

His family will soon hold a memorial service for him and announce the date for the same.

Peter Robbins – A Little Insight

Peter Robbins was 9 years old when he began his acting career. He voiced the famous character infamous of Charlie Brown from Peanuts. He aired in the shows : “A Charlie Brown Christmas” and “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown” for the same character. The show was a phenomenal success and the viewers loved his character. His character meant a lot to him as well. He even has a tattoo of Charlie Brown hugging his trusty sidekick Snoopy.

He even made guest appearances on shows like “Get Smart” and “Good Times”.

Peter Robbins Battled Mental Illness Throughout His Life

The former child artist suffered from bipolar disorder, drugs, and alcoholism. The police arrested him in 2013 on charges of threatening to harm and kill four individuals and stalking one person. Robbins threatened a police sergeant and sheriff Bill Gore and even offered $50,000 to have him killed, according to The San Diego Union-Tribune. Moreover, he threatened his ex-girlfriend and even stalked her plastic surgeon.

Months after his arrested, Peter Robbins was admitted to the rehabilitation center. Two years later, it came to light that he violated the terms of his probation. The police arrested him for the same. Roberts admitted to sending threats to the trailer park manager and his wife, for which he received a sentence of four years and eight months in prison. During his trial, he even threatened Judge Robert O’Neill, the San Diego Superior Court’s chief judge.

His mental condition made him a threat to other people during his incarceration. As a result, he was sent to a psychiatric hospital. He claimed of being a victim of several assaults in the hospital. For instance, the hospital staff would pull him out of his bed at 4 am and would beat him up thereafter.

The authorities finally released Robbins in 2019 on parole as long as he remained sober. He was living in North County sober living home. Moreover, he took up anger management classes and the authorities prohibited him from drinking or taking drugs under any circumstances. He even advised his followers that anybody was suffering from bipolar disorder must take professional help, as it really turns one’s life around as it did in his case.
