A 17-year-old teen from Aurora Colorado was shot dead by a police officer on 24 November 2021. It was Thanksgivings day when Peyton Blitstein’s parents received the news that their son was no more. Peyton was with his friends at the 4900 block of South Addison Way when the incident happened. How Adam Holen is related?
Who was Peyton Blitstein?
Peyton Blitstein was from Aurora, Colorado. The 17-year-old was studying at Vista peak and his goal was to be a fighter pilot. Peyton was going to join the United States Air Force after graduating.
The news of his death came as a shock to his friends and family who have described him as a “friendly and fun-loving” person.
Peyton Blitstein Was Shot Dead
Peyton Blitstein was with his friends when he indulged in an argument with Adam Holen. Holen is a 36-year-old former police officer from Greenwood Village
Things escalated quickly and according to the camera footage given by a neighbor, almost 10 gunshots were heard.
In the footage, it is seen that Adam Holen is sitting in a truck while a group of teenagers (including Peyton) are sitting in a Sedan parked next to the truck.
Adam Holen can be seen coming out of his truck and confronting the group for reckless driving.
It is unknown who fired the shots first but both Holen and Blitstein were hit. While Peyton was pronounced dead on arrival by the hospital, Adam Holen was injured and taken to the hospital.
The officials are trying to find out who the initial aggressor was. No matter the situation, Adam Holen did not have the right to use the weapon. Although he has been released from the hospital now, it is not clear if he has been taken into police custody.
Peyton’s Family Reacts To The News-
Thanksgivings will never be the same for the Blitstein family. Peyton’s stepmom Cayla Blitstein expressed her sadness saying that it was their worst nightmare.
Todd Blitstein, a devastated father said, “You just hope that you know you can get the right information out so that people know who he actually was and what he was all about, and Peyton was an unbelievable person.”
Todd also said that you never know when is the last time you will see someone you love, all that you’re left with is regret. He also revealed that he didn’t see the CCTV footage because he didn’t want to see his son getting hit and falling on the ground. However, he does plead for justice and wants the truth to come out.
