The incident was actually about his friend who was assaulted. While he couldn’t know who the culprit of the assault was. He did come to know, that he was someone black. It made him get filled with a raging feeling that he wanted to kill any African American at that time.

Liam Neeson talked about his racism controversy on “Atlanta”
During a cameo presence at the fourth season of “Atlanta”. The eighth episode of the show however made Liam Neeson talk about his own words that hurted a lot of people. There the actor portrayed his own character at the bar “Cancel Club”. As the eighth episode had Paper Boi as well with Liam. The controversy of the latter popped again.
The episode showed Liam stating about his back then anger on his friend who was ra*ed. He said sorry to all those whom he hurt with his comment. Paper Boi too appreciated that Liam is no longer having any grudges against the black people now.
