Watch: Halyna Hutchins Animated Video Showing How Alec Baldwin Fatally Shot Her
2 min readLawyers for the family of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, who was fatally shot on the set of the film “Rust” last year, released an animated video detailing their claims.
Animated CGI recreation of Baldwin in the New Mexico movie scene shows him sitting on a church pew. He then pulled the trigger of a Colt.45 revolver and aimed it at Halyna Hutchins. Two people are shown helping her up after she’s hit by a bullet and collapses on the ground.
A narrator in the video describes Hutchins’ specific moment when he was shot. He explains how the production team failed to comply with safety standards.

In relation to a new wrongful death lawsuit, the video was released
Throughout the filming process, weapons safety was alleged to be a “massive” problem for various crew members. It was seen in animated screenshots and text messages. In addition, Baldwin failed to follow industry-standard requirements by inspecting the weapon before use on set. It led to his refusal to receive proper training before shooting Halyna Hutchins.
In another lawsuit filed by the Hutchins family on Tuesday, Baldwin, the film’s armorer, and other producers were sued for wrongful death. In a lawsuit filed on October 21, 2021, Hutchins’ family argues that “reckless behavior” and “cost-cutting” are to blame for his death.
What happened there actually?
The assistant director told Baldwin at the time that it was a cold gun. It means that it was not loaded with live rounds. Baldwin was rehearsing a scene with it at the time. Although the weapon contained real bullets, it was fired and struck Hutchins in the chest, killing him. Director Joel Souza was injured as well.
According to the lawsuit filed Tuesday, Baldwin is named as a defendant, along with seven producers and at least five crewmembers.
In addition, lawyers on behalf of Hutchins’ family said on Tuesday that Baldwin himself “disregarded at least 15 industry standards” on set.
Halyna Hutchins’ family attorney, Brian Panish, told reporters, “I think it’s clear what happened.” Alec had the gun,” Panish said. He fired it. Halyna was killed. “
According to Panish, the video may explain why Mr. Baldwin and the rest of the construction crew were negligent and reckless and why Halyna Hutchins died as a result of their actions.
