The Weeknd postponed the First Tour concert after a nationwide wireless outage in Canada
2 min readAfter a widespread cellular outage in Canada, The Weeknd has decided to postpone the opening performance of his tour.
In his hometown of Toronto’s Rogers Center, the 32-year-old singer was scheduled to start his After hours until dawn performance on Friday night. The major wireless service provider in Canada, Rogers Wireless, experienced an outage, which prevented the performance from continuing.
“I’m heartbroken and crushed. Despite spending the entire day on the scene, he claimed that it was not his fault due to Rogers’ breakdown in a statement posted to his Instagram story. “I have done my best, but operations and security have been compromised.”
The “Blinding Lights” singer was “onsite and ready to play,” according to a statement from Live Nation on Twitter, but the event had to be postponed because of the outage “since the venue’s operations & infrastructure are not viable until full service is back.”
The Weeknd received praise from Drake for reserving such a sizable space in their home city
In a series of videos uploaded on his Instagram Story, Drake, 35, identified the precise location where he first heard The Weeknd’s music.
“Alright, see. My first exposure to The Weeknd’s music was right here, in this tiny driveway area, in the song “Started from the Bottom.” “claimed rapper in a selfie-style video.
“Of course, my brother Oliver [El-Khatib] deserves a shoutout. Here, Oliver played me The Weeknd “remembered Drake. “This was my previous residence in Toronto. We have a spot out here. Rain was falling.”
Drake said, referring to the original name of the facility, “That same man is selling out the SkyDome tomorrow.”
The “Toosie Slide” performer appeared to encourage followers at the end of the video to follow The Weeknd’s lead and devote attention to their profession because success may happen at any time.
In March, The Weeknd revealed the initial schedule for his tour. The performances, which also include Doja Cat, are in support of Dawn FM, his most recent studio album, and After Hours, his album due out in 2020.
The stadium tour was supposed to begin on Friday night in Toronto and end in September in Los Angeles.
