3 min readHolyfield’s Comeback will be marking the 20th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. 11 September is not like any other ordinary day. This date changed many dynamics of the world and added a few. In 2021, 9/11 will mark its 20th anniversary. The former US President Donald Trump will be serving as a boxing commentator. Trump will host the bout between Evander Holyfield and Vitor Belfort. Everyone is excited about the fight. Trump also acknowledged that he loves “great fighters and great fights.”
The former US President also said, ” I look forward to seeing both this Saturday night and sharing my thoughts ringside. You won’t want to miss this special episode.” The Fite TV said that Trump would give person-in-person commentary. The commentary will be done in English and Spanish keeping the third option of guest commentator aside. The UFC Star Jorge Masvidal and former WWE Announcer Todd Grisham will also appear in the show.
On the other hand, US President will revisit the crash sites of 9/11 i.e. Pennsylvania, New York, and Arlington, Virginia. The attack of 9/11 killed nearly 3000 people in the US. President Biden will be honoring them. Apart from this, former President George W. Bush and Barack Obama will also pay visits to the cities of Pennsylvania and New York respectively.
Failed De La Hoya Comeback
Triller has organized the event. It is a social media app that has now become a promoter of boxing. Last year, it organized a fight between Mike Tyson and Roy Jones Jr. Lat year itself, Trump came to the Triller app for its promotion and presenting it as an alternative to the Chinese app TikTok.
The Saturday’s bout is originally prepared for the comeback of 1992- Olympics Gold medallist Oscar De La Hoya. The 48-year-old has been an 11-time World Champion across six weight classes. He will be fighting against a 44-year-old MMA fighter from Brazil- Victor Belfort.
However, last Friday, Oscar had to withdraw his name from the bout as he got hospitalized due to COVIS-19. He tweeted about this and thanked everyone for their tremendous support. Even after being fully vaccinated, Oscar got infected with COVID-19.
Return of Holyfield
Due to the withdrawal of Oscar De La Hoya, Holyfield will be taking part in the match. He has won the World Heavy Weight title four times and is the only one to do so. It will be a comeback for Holyfield. He has not fought since 2011 and will be turning 59 this October.
In 2004, Holyfield was not permitted to fight in New York owing to “poor performance and diminished skills.” However, later he failed drug tests for anabolic steroids and elevated levels of Testosterone. Because of this, he was not given a sanction by the Californian State Athletic Commission(CASC). Therefore, the event is organized in Florida and not in Los Angeles’ Staples Center.
