Friends and relatives have paid homage after a man named Spike Porter sadly committed suicide in front of startled mourners at a funeral.

The accident occurred at a burial service at the Pimpama Island Cemetery in Jacobs Well, Gold Coast, on Tuesday.

Spike Porter, 25, was attending a memorial service for a friend at Jacobs Well’s Pimpama Island Cemetery when he was killed in the rear of a car in the funeral procession.

The Queensland man was urgently sought to rescue by paramedics and fellow mourners who witnessed the tragedy, but he died at the spot from head injuries before a helicopter arrived, according to The Courier Mail.

On Friday, the family launched a GoFundMe account. It was launched in the hopes of obtaining $25,000 for any unexpected bills they are currently dealing with.

Since then, it has raised more than $20,000.

“Rest easy brother,” wrote one of the donors. I never had the opportunity to meet you, but I’ve heard about some of your fond memories of your brother.”

A second individual added, “You will be forever missed.”
