A viral TikTok challenge of chewing spicy gum has landed 10 children in the hospital. Post which an alert on this challenge has been put by the authorities. The spicy gum challenge has resulted in harm to the students of an elementary school. Post which now parents have been warned too. But what exactly happened to the kids?

TikTok’s viral spicy gum challenge creates trouble
Although you get a variety of trends and challenges on TikTok to try out. Some reach kids as well. Recently, one of the trends of TikTok of spicy gum challenge became viral on among children too. However, not all trends are safe enough to try out.

The spicy gum challenge, where one has to chew spicy gum has created a lot of trouble among the kids. About 10 children have been harmed after chewing the spicy gum and it’s making all concerned and alert the same.
10 children taken into hospital after trying spicy gum challenge of TikTok
It was on 5th April that a report came from WGGB-TV that said that some students of Orange, Massachusetts’ Dexter Park Elementary School were in trouble after chewing spicy gum.
The product that the kids chewed was identified as CaJohns Trouble Bubble Bubble Gum by the Southborough police as per Live Fox Now. They also said the spicy gum was a part of the TikTok trend. Chewing which resulted in kids to get into hospital later.
Authorities warn against the spicy gum challenge

Elizabeth Teahan-Zielinski, the Superintendent said that chewing the spicy gum had the wrong reaction on the kids. The kids complained of a burning sensation in their throat and stomach ache after having the gum. While some even had skin and eye irritation due to the spicy gum.
One of the parents of the sick kid said “It was something that you see in like a horror movie. Honestly, it just kind of felt like these kids had been under attack”.
All these resulted in the Southborough Police Department warning via Facebook post that the gum of the viral challenge comprises of oleoresin capsicum. The gum holds extracts of pepper along with a Scoville rating of 16 million making it equal to pepper spray.
