JoJo Siwa responded to Candace Owens’ claim that she lied about being a lesbian because she was desperately seeking attention. In a nearly six-minute tweet on April 4, Owens discussed her views on Siwa. According to Owens, the 19-year-old star leveraged her sexuality to gain attention, saying it was great for finding a community of victims. In any case, I don’t believe JoJo Siwa is a lesbian. There is no question about what I’m trying to say. In one instance, Owens said, she seems to be desperate for attention.

Siwa responded with a tweet just hours after Owens shared the video. The Nickelodeon star, who is known for her TV show and Nickelodeon projects, first disclosed her sexuality in January 2021 via two TikTok videos, followed by a Twitter picture of her wearing a “Best. Gay. Cousin. Ever” t-shirt. Later that month, she shared more details on Instagram Live, stating that she has always been part of the LGBTQ community. Siwa told People in March 2023 that she discovered she was gay while exploring Disney World with a crush.

Recently, the conservative commentator Candace Owens released a video captioned Is JoJo Siwa lying about being lesbian for attention? in which she alleged that the social media star was not really gay. It’s my understanding that JoJo Siwa isn’t a lesbian, by the way. I want to make sure that is clear. On Twitter, Candace says that she believes she is desperate for attention. In response to JoJo’s TikTok post about her gay awakening, Candace stated she first realized she was gay after listening to Demi Lovato’s song “Cool for the Summer,” watching Jenna Dewan’s Lip Sync Battle performance, and not wanting to share intimacy with the man she had dated. There is one plus one plus one so I am lesbian, Candace said. It seems she realized she was a lesbian after having a bad date and liking Jenna Dewan’s dancing. She continued, It doesn’t make any sense whatsoever. From her video, it is clear that she did it for attention. As a result, she got attention since it’s a great way to find victims who share her experiences.

This is the most support I’ve ever received from the world. Honestly, I have never felt so happy in my entire life. In March 2023, Siwa told People she had realized she was gay as she explored Disney World with a friend she had a crush on. Disneyland has given me some truly hard memories, but it has also allowed me to grow a great deal as well. It was at Disney World that I fell in love for the first time, Siwa told the outlet. Disney World was the first place I realized I was gay. There were stages of heartbreak at Disney World for me. Disney World has really influenced my personal life in a lot of ways.
