It was on Monday that some of the San Diego residents on Twitter came to share their experiences of hearing loud booms in the city. In parts of the city, some loud booms were heard by the San Diego residents.

The first instance of it was reported to have been heard at around 4 pm local time by a user @christasleeve.Another user @mexipino78 of Twitter had a tweet saying that another loud boom was heard around 4:30 pm local time. Some of the users who heard the booms went on to describe their experience on Twitter.

Loud booms heard by San Diego residents spark concern online

User @christasleeve went on share about the loud booms saying that during the boom it felt like “whole house shook”. After San Diego residents went on to describe the same. Netizens are left concerned as to what were the loud booms heard in parts of the city.

Some went on to think that the loud booms were a result of the earthquake. One even thought it to be a sonic boom. However, on Reddit other users went on to debunk the claims of the loud booms being all about a sonic boom or an earthquake.

What exactly were the San Diego loud booms heard?

Well, users might have been thinking that the loud booms heard by San Diego residents might have been due to earthquakes or a sonic boom. According to Patch, Cpl. Shaina Jupiter Of Camp Pendleton, the base was having a routine live fire ammunition training.

Yet they didn’t confirm if the booms were from the base or not. The camp however came to say to the public that “explosions may be amplified and heard up to 50 miles away”. Which is to take place between 25th February to 5th March 2023.

A spokesperson of Camp Pendleton said about the loud booms “Although i cannot confirm the exact noise, booms or shakes you’re referring to and its cause, but here at Camp Pendleton we are conducting routine live-fire training with high explosive munitions that may be heard throughout any time of the day”.
