Twitch sensation Imane ‘Pokimane’ Anys recently shared a startling revelation about being dropped by a brand after a minor controversy, during a candid conversation with fellow streamer LilyPichu. Pokimane, one of the most prominent figures on Twitch with millions of followers across various social media platforms, revealed the brand not only cut ties with her but also insisted she delete all content associated with them.

For someone as influential as Pokimane, it’s not surprising that brands flock to her for endorsements. However, this particular company wasn’t as easygoing as others. According to Pokimane, the brand was extremely nitpicky about the content she submitted during their partnership, finding fault in even the smallest details. She explained, “When I worked with them, every single thing I would send in, they would have the smallest, nit-pickiest thing and reason to reject the material. They’d be like, ‘Mmm, there’s a slight glare there. You’re wearing white, and there’s white on the packaging, so we can’t accept that.'”

Pokimane said she often had to re-do the same task multiple times over minor issues, which she described as “irrelevant,” adding that the whole experience was exhausting. “I had to re-do the same thing like, five times for reasons that are so irrelevant.”

Things escalated when Pokimane found herself embroiled in a minor controversy. Although the specific incident wasn’t disclosed, the brand wasted no time in cutting ties with her. “The literal second that I had any sort of controversy, they dropped me. They were like, ‘Delete everything.’ I can’t be surprised. It’s their prerogative. It’s kooky-beans,” she remarked, expressing a mix of frustration and understanding.

Despite not naming the brand, Pokimane mentioned that it was part of a larger conglomerate, which made it hard to completely avoid working with them in the industry. She also issued a warning to other streamers, advising them to steer clear of such brands due to the overly critical nature of their dealings.

Though she didn’t specify the controversy that led to this fallout, fans speculate it might be linked to an incident in November 2023. During the launch of her cookie brand, Myna Snacks, Pokimane faced backlash for the product’s pricing. When a fan criticized the cost during one of her streams, she retorted with, “If you’re a broke boy, just say so.” While the comment sparked outrage, Pokimane later apologized and clarified that the pricing was a reflection of the quality of ingredients used to make the cookies a healthier alternative to other brands.

Pokimane’s experience serves as a cautionary tale for content creators, highlighting the fragility of brand partnerships in the face of controversy, no matter how small.
