Depp is currently busy with his brutal trial against his former wife Amber Heard. The actress penned an op-ed in 2018 The Washington Post, where she claimed she was a survivor of domestic violence.
Depp filed for a $50 million defamation lawsuit against Heard, listing that her alleged accusations destroyed his reputation and career.
Following the post, Depp was axed from several big-budget films such as Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean series. He was further replaced by Mads Mikkelsen as Gellert Grindelwald in the Fantastic Beasts franchise.
In an interview with The Sunday Times, Jerry Bruckheimer discussed the future of the Pirates of the Caribbean 6.

During his interview, Jerry Bruckheimer mentions that the creators are developing two scripts, one with Margot Robbie acting as the protagonist while the other one does not.
Thus, there is no confirmation whether The Once Upon a Time in Hollywood star will be seen in the lead role in the forthcoming installment of POTC. Furthermore, the details of her character are being kept under wraps for now.
Regardless, fans are divided over Robbie replacing Depp in the undecided Pirates of the Caribbean 6.
Earlier there were speculations of Matthew McConaughey and Joaquin Phoenix being the likely replacements of Depp in the POTC series. However, Depp’s loyal fans have refused to see other actors essaying the iconic role of Captain Jack Sparrow.
Some fans are reluctant to accept Margot Robbie as the lead in Pirates of the Caribbean.
Will Johnny Depp ever return as Jack Sparrow?
The odds of Johnny Depp returning as Jack Sparrow are somewhat non-existent.
Granting if Disney decides to offer Depp to star in Pirates of the Caribbean 6, the problem however rises that the 58-year-old star might no longer be interested in the hypothetical deal.
Amid his trial, Depp revealed that he won’t be working with Disney in the future. He stated that after Disney terminated him he felt ‘betrayed’.
The actor further mentioned that he worked so hard to bring the notorious pirate’s character to life in the preceding five films.
He added that Sparrow deserved to properly bid goodbye to his fans rather than the rug abruptly pulled from under him.
