Here is everything you need to know.
Kanye West’s Donda Academy basketball players will have limited playing time
Earlier this week, news broke out that Kanye West is closing his Donda Academy amid his antisemitic behavior and remarks.
However, this decision might cost the students their careers as the school’s temporary shutdown will waste a season’s worth of their developing talents.
Moreover, sources directly in touch with the academy’s boy basketball team have reported that this year’s season has been put on ice for the players since hardly any games have been scheduled for the students.
Moreover, sources claim that the basketball team has limited practice. They further have been dropped from multiple tournaments following the 45-year-old rapper’s antisemitic rants.
Furthermore, the school officials have issued a statement mentioning that if the student wants to they can organize their own practice. But the Donda authorities won’t provide assistance to them although a few coaches are trying their best to help them.
Subsequently, a news report that the students of Donda Academy are finding it difficult to transfer to the basketball program of a different school. It is because the season for the Donda rapper’s school is not yet officially canceled.
This situation is especially bad for the players who have real talent and the potential to play the game in college.
NBA star Jaylen Brown opens up about leaving Donda Sports
Jaylen Brown has officially left Donda Sports. However, he still has lingering concerns for the students. He recently expressed his concern over the students and families who will be affected by the school’s abrupt closure.
He said, “What would happen if I stayed?’
Moreover, he added, ‘I work hard to be able to have the platform that I have and use it to be a voice for the voiceless. So to potentially have to sacrifice that platform, I think I made the right decision.’
Brown further stated, ‘These kids have nothing to do with what’s really going on.’
He went on to continue, ‘They don’t deserve to abruptly have their season end or abruptly have their school year cut or diminished because of the actions of others. The only thing they’re guilty of is trying to get a unique opportunity to get ahead in life.’
Subsequently, he mentioned, ‘I’ve been trying to lean in and to get resources together to make sure that doesn’t happen.’
Brown explained, ‘To me, it’s a school with kids, with parents and with teachers. All with names and faces that I got to work with. So I look at that situation differently. And I plan to use my platform and make sure that those kids get what was promised to them. Education is key.”
