Dead Kennedys drummer D.H. Peligro died in his Los Angeles home on Friday, as per a statement from the band. He was 63 years of age. D.H. Peligro, whose real name is Darren Henley, passed on from a head trauma sustained during an accidental fall, a Twitter post from the band said. The reason for the fetal effect was not released. Darren Henley joined the legendary punk rock group in 1981 and made his recorded debut with the band on the record titled, In God We Trust, Inc. Following Dead Kennedy’s break up in 1986, Darren Henley momentarily joined Red Hot Chili Peppers in 1988. D.H. Peligro, Dead Kennedy’s long-time drummer, has passed away. The band confirmed the news on its Instagram account, expressing, Dead Kennedys’ drummer D.H. Peligro (Darren Henley) died in his Los Angeles home on 28th Thursday. Police on the scene expressed that he died from injury to the head brought about by an inadvertent fall. Superchunk’s Jon Wurster posted a video of a Dead Kennedys drummer D.H. Peligro set in San Francisco from 1984 with the words D.H. Peligro has left the building. One of the absolute greats. Dead Kennedys was formed in June 1978 in San Francisco with artist Jello Biafra, guitarist East Sound Beam, bassist Klaus Flouride, and drummer Bruce ‘Ted’ Slesinger. After the recording of their first demos, the Dead Kennedys released their debut album called Fresh Fruit for Rotting Vegetables in 1980. Slesinger left the band that following year to seek an architecture career, and D. H. Peligro stepped in to replace him on drums after procuring the appreciation of Biafra at S.S.I. live shows. D. H. Peligro immediately assisted Dead Kennedys with evolving into a more steadfast hardcore punk sound, using an aggressive, steady drumming style that would proceed to assist with impacting the wave of crossover thrash that followed.
