Dave Chappelle’s attacker booked for multiple misdemeanor charges

The man accused of leaping at comedian Dave Chappelle onstage at the Hollywood Bowl has been charged with four misdemeanor counts. The ruling was confirmed after Los Angeles County prosecutors refused to charge him with a felony.

Isaiah Lee, 23 years old will be charged with ‘battery, possession of a weapon with the intent to assault’ and ‘charges relating to interfering with a performance’.

Los Angeles City Attorney Mike Feuer announced the verdict on Thursday.

Man arrested for multiple charges after attacking Dave Chappelle

As per Associated Press and LAPD statement, the attacker Isaiah Lee was carrying a plastic replica gun that contained a real switchblade inside when he tackled Dave Chappelle during the show.

The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office refused to pursue any felony allegations against Chappelle’s attacker. Shortly, the case was referred to the Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office for consideration of probable misdemeanor charges.

The District Attorney’s Office released a statement over the case. They said, ‘After reviewing the evidence, prosecutors determined that while criminal conduct occurred, the evidence as presented did not constitute felony conduct. The District Attorney’s Office does not prosecute misdemeanor crimes within the city of Los Angeles.’

On Tuesday night, Isaiah Lee was detained by the cops and charged with immediate assault while in possession of a deadly weapon. 

LAPD Public Information Officer Mendez reported that Lee is being held on $30,000 bail. The officer continued that he was admitted to a local hospital to treat the injuries he received during the altercation. After receiving immediate medical treatment and being cleared for booking, Lee was charged with felony assault with a deadly weapon.

Feuer, who is a candidate for Los Angeles mayor, took to Twitter to post a message regarding Chappelle’s attack.

In the video, he said, ‘What should have been an evening of laughter at the Hollywood Bowl was suddenly interrupted when suspect Isaiah Lee allegedly charged onto the stage and tackled comedian Dave Chappelle’.

Social media flooded with posts from Dave Chappelle’s Hollywood Bowl Show.

While Chappelle was finishing up his set on Tuesday night he was tackled to the floor by someone.

Mobile phones of the attendees’ confiscated before the performance at the gate. One of the attendees recorded the assault which showed a man rushing into someone holding a microphone, most likely Chappelle.
