Here is everything you need to know.

Celebrities pitch in to support the late Tyre Nichols family

TMZ recently went through Tyre Nichols’s official GoFundMe page where more than 33,000 donations are presently made. Moreover, they were surprised to see the name of multiple celebrities on the list.

In addition, tons of big names including Love Song singer Sara Bareilles, and comedian Lil Rel Howery have donated $1,000 to the fund.

Other names consist of professional skateboard player Tony Hawk and Shea Butter Baby artist Ari Lennox.

If you didn’t know, Nichols’s mother RowVaughn Wells launched the fundraiser. She explained that she and her husband’s lives are turned upside down following the tragic death of their son.

Meanwhile, Howery spoke about the tragedy in an interview claiming that Nichols was a peaceful person who should still be alive.

Wells on the other hand said that they are raising money in order to cover the cost of mental health services.

Additionally, she added that the donations would also help them to take a brief leave from their 9-5 jobs and focus on ‘seeking proper justice’ for their son.

Besides that, Wells revealed that they are planning to establish a memorial skate park for Nichols ‘in honor of his love for skating and sunsets.’

Hawk, the most famous skateboarder, seems to agree with Wells’ idea to build a skate park in Nichols’s honor.

In addition, he went ahead to share a video of Nichols skating on his official social media account.

He outlined the post with a caption that read, ‘Help Tyre’s family (and honor him with a skatepark).’

Watchmen screenwriter Damon Lindelof has donated $2,300 while As Told By Ginger writer Emily Kapnek gave $1,500.

What happened to Tyre Nichols?

Tyre Nichols’s mother RowVaughn Wells organized a GoFundMe page where she talked about her son’s unfortunate death.

She wrote, ‘My son, Tyre Nichols, was pulled over for suspected ‘reckless driving’ on January 7, 2023.’

Wells added, ‘During my son’s interaction with the police, they beat him beyond recognition until he became unconscious.

She continued, ‘He was then taken to a hospital and immediately placed on life support. He died three days later. But I believe that my son died on January 7, the moment those five Black Memphis Police Officers pulled Tyre over and beat him to death for no good reason.’
