“You’ve heard of Tyson, but have you heard of Mike?” Mike, a Hulu original series starring Trevante Rhodes, premiered its first teaser on June 8. The teasers offer a first look at Russell Hornsby, Laura Harrier, Harvey Keitel, and Li Eubanks’ characters in the eight-episode limited series, which premieres on August 25.
Mike Tyson’s story is both vibrant and controversial
Tyson, from creator/screenwriter Steven Rogers and the crew behind me, Tonya, as well as showrunner Karin Gist (Our Kind of People), “explores the dynamic and contentious narrative of Mike Tyson,” according to Hulu, “from being a celebrated worldwide athlete to a pariah and back again.” The series tackles class, racism, popularity, and the power of the media through the prism of Mike Tyson, as well as misogyny, the wealth difference, the promise of the American Dream, and, ultimately, our own part in crafting Mike’s tale.”
Mike Tyson’s life in an uncensored and no-holds-barred manner
Mike is described by Hulu as “an uncensored and no-holds-barred look at Mike Tyson’s life — and it is one wild journey.” To see a preview of those crazy scenes, watch the Mike teaser video below. As fighter Don King and iconic boxing promoter Trevante Rhodes and Hornsby are series regulars. Harrier, Keitel, and Eubanks all appear in several episodes.

Cast and crew for ‘Mike’
Robin Givens is played by Harrier (who was briefly married to Tyson). Cus D’Amato is played by Keitel (a famous boxing manager and trainer). And Eubanks takes on the role of Desiree Washington, the woman who accused Tyson of sexual assault in 1991. It appears that the limited series (formerly known as Iron Mike) would not shy away from Tyson’s most contentious occasions.
Rogers, who also serves as an executive producer, developed Mike. Along with Claire Brown, Gist acts as showrunner and executive producer under her The Gist of It label. Craig Gillespie, Clubhouse Pictures’ Bryan Unkeless, Scott Morgan, and LuckyChap’s Tom Ackerley and Margot Robbie, as well as Entertainment 360’s Darin Friedman, executive produce I, Tonya. Anthony Hemingway, Anthony Sparks, and Samantha Corbin-Miller are all executive producing, with Trevante Rhodes also acting and executive producing. Produced by 20th Television.
