The time slot of The Wendy Williams Show this September is being taken over by comedian Sherri Shepherd’s new series ‘Sherri’. Wendy Williams however has confirmed that she will return to the small screens in the coming weeks. 

The 57-year-old personality was seen attending the Met Gala afterparty hosted by Cardi B at New York City’s Standard High Line hotel.

The New Jersey native was seen painting the city red in her colorful tiered gown and paired them with her trainers.

Wendy Williams To Return Soon

Wendy Williams arrived at Cardi B’s afterparty with blogger Jason Lee.

The appearance of Williams at the star-studded event came as a surprise to many fans.

The TV host has teased them about her comeback two weeks before she was spotted in New York.

Moreover, the veteran star purposefully told her friends that she is ready to return to the small screens when she attended upmarket Fresco last month.

During an interview, when Williams was questioned about if she will make a comeback in September, the celebrity responded with an enthusiastic ‘of course’. 

While talking with journalists at the afterparty, Williams sported her signature ‘W’ necklace and mentioned that,“ ‘The Wendy Williams Show’ lives forever.” 

On the other hand in March Williams sat down with GMA in an off-camera interview. During the interview, the star revealed that she would supposedly return to television screens in three months.

Why was The Wendy Williams Show canceled?

Wendy Williams took an extended leave from The Wendy Williams Show amid her battle with Graves’ disease and other unrevealed health reasons.

The host was assumed to return to the talk show in the fall of 2021 however she did not come back.

Multiple guest hosts filled in for Williams during her absence. One of them was The View co-host, Sherri Shepherd. 

Earlier this year in February it was announced that the 54-year-old actress will permanently replace Williams. It was further revealed that Shepherd would get her talk show named Sherri which will have the same time slot. The new series is slated to debut this year in September.

Shepherd added while talking about her new hosting gig, ‘No one can replace the queen. Nobody. And trust me, I am not trying to at all.’

Back in 2008, The Wendy Williams Show made its debut on Fox stations. While Williams has stated that she would make a television comeback, many fans are deluding that she would host a podcast instead.
