In Japanese, its original title is “Mimi wo Sumaseba”, which translates to “If you listen closely”. The movie is a love story between a high school girl Shizuko Tsukishima, who loves reading books, and a boy who has checked out all of the library books she chooses.
Kiki’s Delivery Service
Kiki’s Delivery Service is directed by Hayao Miyazaki, this film is based on a new teen girl, Kiki and her talking cat names Jiji who together move to a seaside town to spend a year alone, as per tradition for witches in training. Soon she opens up a flying courier service after mastering the art of controlling her broomstick. Which soon becomes a fixture in her town. Sadly she loses her powers due to some insecurities that she needs to overcome to get her powers back.

A Whisker Away
A Whisker Away is directed by Junichi Sato and Tomotaka Shibayama, “A Whisker Away” is a Japanese animated film based on the concept of blurring lines between human and animal after a girl transforms herself into a cat. It’s original name in Japanese is “Nakitai Watashi wa Neko o Kaburu”
Spirited Away
Spirited Away is also directed by Hayao Miyazaki, Spirited Away is an anime film based on a 10-year-old girl Chihiro. They shift to the countryside and find an amusement part where Chihiro’s parents transform into pigs after eating something. Soon realizing she has entered a supernatural realm, Chihiro encounters a host of characters and spirits, waiting for a reunion with her parents.
Ocean Waves
Ocean Waves is directed by Tomomi Mochizuki, is a Japanese anime film set in the city of Kōchi, on island Shikoku. It is a story about a high school love triangle between two good friends and a new girl who transferred from Tokyo.
A Silent Voice
A Silent Voice is directed by Naoko Yamada, “A silent voice” is a story about Shouya’s reunion with Shouko and his honest attempts to redeem himself, all while being continually haunted by the shadows of his past. It’s Japanese title is “Koe no Katachi“.

From Up On Poppy Hill is directed by Goro Miyazaki, “From Up on Poppy Hill” is an anime film based on the story of a high school girl, Umi Matsuzaki, who lives in a boarding house, who meets a fellow student and decides to clean up the clubhouse. Only to enter a difficult situation of convincing a staff head to not demolish the building.

The Secret World of Arrietty is directed by Hiromasa Yonebayashi, “The Secret World of Arrietty” is an anime film based on the story of a young Borrower, Arrietty- who secretly lives under the floorboards of a house with her family, unknown to the homeowners. Like others of her kind, Arrietty and her family hide from the humans only to go out for food very carefully. Soon she becomes friends with a human kid who lives there. But their friendship can be dangerous for Arrietty’s family.
