To be specific, you can neither have fish nor any other form of meat on the occasion of Ash Wednesday. Yet, you are free to have vegetarian food on that day and you can even include eggs in your diet that day. While one is free to have the milk products included in their diet too for the holy occasion, all you have to avoid is meat in any form.
