On New Year’s Eve, Jennifer Ashton received a very happy surprise in the form of a marriage proposal! The ABC News chief medical correspondent and doctor, 52, is engaged to Tom Werner, a 71-year-old television producer, and businessman. It has been a year since they started dating.
PEOPLE reports a close friend of the couple says the couple was soulmates the moment they met.
As well as posting about the new phase on ABC, Jennifer broke the news via her social media. As a result, her followers rushed to her social media pages to express their congratulations. To date, she has not made any public comments regarding the details of her marriage ceremony.
Ashton and Werner were first introduced in 2021 by a mutual friend and hit it off immediately.
On Dec. 31, the pair were waiting to hail a cab on their way to dinner at The Fulton by Jean-Georges, where they had their first date when Werner suddenly popped the question.

Additionally, Tom Werner has invested in sports activities as well as being active in the leisure business. As an owner of the San Diego Padres membership and co-founder of the Boston Red Sox membership, he played baseball for over 30 years.

The news was first shared by Jennifer Ashton to her 240k Instagram followers. “I said YES to Tom Werner!” “She shared a picture of the two of them together.”
In addition to sharing the information, she also displayed it throughout ABC’s broadcast. As she showed her engagement ring, she said that it was one of the best New Year’s of her life.
Tom Werner has not yet commented on the engagement. There is no question, however, that he’s as excited as Jennifer.
They are planning an intimate, small ceremony later this year to commemorate their engagement. Their plans may be altered due to the COVID-19 pandemic. For now, there is an ongoing study on how the pandemic will impact social gatherings.
They both believe that being together is the most important thing in the world. One of their closest friends explains that even if there were just the two of them, it wouldn’t matter. “They are so in love.”
