Mike Hagerty, who played Mr Treeger on Friends and later featured on Seinfeld and Curb Your Enthusiasm, died at the age of 67. Do you know if he had a wife? Fans are grieving the passing of one of the finest character performers in American television history. The veteran most recently appeared as Bridget Everett’s father in HBO’s Somebody Somewhere. Bridgett was the one who broke the awful news on Instagram.
DID MIKE HAGERTY HAVE A WIFE?
Mike Hagerty did, in fact, have a wife. His wife, Mary Kathryn, his sister, Mary Ann Hagerty, her wife, Kathleen O’Rourke, and their daughter, Meg, survive him. There isn’t much information available regarding the actor’s wife and family. He didn’t have a social media account and kept his personal life out of the spotlight. “With great grief, the family of Michael G. Hagerty confirmed his death yesterday in Los Angeles,” his co-star Bridgett stated in a statement. “A renowned character actor, his love of his birthplace of Chicago and his family were the pillars of his life.”
A LOOK AT MIKE HAGERTY’S CAREER
Mike, who was born in Chicago in 1954, began his career in the 1980s with minor appearances in films such as Doctor Detroit, One More Saturday Night, Overboard, Brewster’s Millions, and Nothing in Common. He also appeared in films such as Dick Tracy and V.I. Warshawski in the 1990s. So I Married an Axe Murderer and Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me were his breakout roles. Mike Hagerty became a well-known guest star on several television episodes by the 1990s, including Dear John, The Wonder Years, Civil Wars, and Star Trek: The Next Generation. Mike Hagerty played Mr. Treeger on Friends, but he also appeared in Seinfeld’s legendary 1994 episode “The Raincoats.” He played Rudy, the proprietor of a downtown vintage clothing boutique, who buys some of Jerry Stiller’s Frank Costanza’s old cabana-wear without realising it’s infested with Moths.
Then there was Mike Hagerty’s appearance on NBC’s Friends. He first appeared in the programme in the 1995 episode “The One Where Heckles Dies,” and he returns in following episodes. Mr Treeger threatens Rachel and Monica with eviction in one of these episodes for unlawfully subletting the latter’s residence. To keep quiet, he begs Joey to teach him how to dance. Mike Hagerty then appeared in Curb Your Enthusiasm. In 2013, he also played Captain McGinley on Brooklyn Nine-Nine. In 2022, he played Bridget’s father, Ed Miller, in the HBO comedy Somebody Somewhere.
