Marisa Fotieo, a school teacher who imparts childhood knowledge to the kids of Chicago, tested positive for Covid-19 on the 20th of December 2021. She was traveling from Newark, New Jersey to Reykjavik, Iceland. Meanwhile, in the flight, she was tested positive and so she isolated herself in the toilet of the flight for 4 hours. A video made by Marisa Fotieo went viral on TikTok and has about 4 million views now.
The Entire Incident Over The Flight
Firstly, Marisa Fotieo is from Chicago. She planned a trip to Switzerland with her brother and father. The school teacher took a flight from Newark, New Jersey to Reykjavik, Iceland, where the family had a layover. The flight was for 5 hours. Eventually, Fotieo felt her throat hurting. She was carrying several rapid test kits along. So, she used one in the flight toilet. The result came out within 2 seconds and it showed positive.

Marisa added in her comment that she freaked out and got out of the washroom. She expressed the situation to a flight attendant named Rocky. The flight attendant reported her back and told her that the flight was full with 150 passengers and that it’s not possible to isolate her. However, Fotieo told the attendant that she would isolate herself in the toilet voluntarily. Fortunately, Rocky provided snacks and water to Marisa and kept checking on her to ensure she was okay.
Furthermore, Marisa Fotieo shot a video of herself in the flight toilet that went viral and now has more than 4 million views on TikTok. Fotieo expressed her gratitude towards the flight attendant and mentioned that she was worried about infecting the 150 passengers along with her father, whose health was her priority as she lost her mother two years ago.
Marisa Fotieo’s Isolation Period
On the contrary, after reaching Reykjavik, Iceland, Marisa was quarantined at the Red Cross Humanitarian Hotel at no charge for 10 days. So practically, Fotieo spent her Christmas holidays alone. However, she thanked the attendant for sending her gifts and goodies for Christmas. Marisa Fotieo’s brother and father continued with the trip to Switzerland. They are likely to visit her after her quarantine period is over and she tests negative in Iceland. Marisa further expressed her well-being in the hotel by posting more videos after the one that got viral.
The Omicron variant of Covid-19 spreads real quick. Though it is not as harmful as the other variants, yet it’s very infectious. Marisa Fotieo tested positive on the 20th of December 2021, therefore, her quarantine period is to end by the 30th of December, 2021. With the surge of the Omicron variant, the US has experienced the highest jump in the Covid-19 cases.
