Who is Marc Pilcher? ‘Bridgerton’ Emmy winner dies at 53 of COVID-19

Marc Pilcher was a hair and make-up artist from the United Kingdom. He died due to COVID-19 on Sunday. Pilcher died at the age of 53. According to his agency, Curtis Brown, he was double-vaccinated. Pilcher had no underlying health issues. He recently earned an Emmy Award for his work on Netflix’s Bridgerton. Three weeks after he received a Creative Emmy trophy in Los Angeles, the announcement comes.
The announcement was made by his agent, family, and friends in a statement. The statement was as follows “It is with the deepest of hearts that we confirm that Marc Elliot Pilcher, Academy Award nominee and Emmy Award-winning hair and makeup designer/stylist, passed away on Sunday after a fight with COVID-19,”. “He added his flare and personality to every design, making it glamorous and opulent. He pushed limits and created work that had never been seen before because his thought process for his works was never limited.”
To make the travel across the Atlantic and back for the ceremony, Pilcher took and tested negative on multiple COVID-19 tests. He became ill shortly after his return, and his condition worsened over the weekend. On Sunday, he passed away. He was noted for his work in a variety of West End shows, television shows, and films, in addition to “Bridgerton.” For his work on “Mary Queen of Scots” alongside Saoirse Ronan and Margot Robbie, he was nominated for an Academy Award in 2018.
The Outstanding Period and/or Character Hairstyling Emmy went to Pilcher at the Creative Arts Emmys. It was held for two nights on September 11 and 12. All the attendees were required to show proof of vaccination and negative COVID-19 test reports.

Pilcher’s career began in 1988. He began his career after graduating from his college. Pilcher first found work in London’s West End theatre scene. He started performing in productions of Company, Sunset Boulevard, and Aspects of Love. He began his career as a hairdresser, stylist, and makeup artist. In the early 2000s, he started his work in the film and television industries. He started working with stars such as Dame Judi Dench, Shirley MacLaine, Helena Bonham Carter and many more.
Pilcher was nominated for an Academy Award in 2019. He was nominated for his work on Mary Queen of Scots’ hair. Pilcher most recently won a 2021 Emmy Award for Outstanding Period And/Or Character Hairstyling for his work on Netflix’s Bridgerton. He won this award specifically for the episode “Art of the Swoon.” Three Hollywood Makeup Artist & Hairstyling Guild Awards for his work on Bridgerton, Downton Abbey, and Mary Queen of Scots are among his other honors.
A spokesperson for the Television Academy said in a statement, “We are deeply saddened to learn of Marc Pilcher’s passing.” He was a well-liked professional whose brilliant talent and creativity will be missed by the theatre, film, and television communities.”
