Jacy Campbell shared a video on January 4 wherein she claims to breastfeed her daughter Emmy till she’s 6. The video has received over 1.9 million views with mixed reactions. There are viewers who have supported her decision. However, many viewers have trolled and harassed her for her decision.

Among the nasty comments she received, one of the users said that this will cause her child to resent her in the future. And then, it would constitute sexual abuse. Jacy Campbell released a video on January 8 to respond to the same. She said that extended breastfeeding is not sexual assault. There is no assault involved in feeding a child. Furthermore, she added that just because people sexualize breasts, it doesn’t mean a child will do it too. A child uses oneself for nourishment. In her comments, she also mentioned breastfeeding offers a number of health advantages to moms and their babies, but she didn’t feel the need to defend it based on one mean comment.

In accordance with WHO guidelines, breastfeeding is recommended until a baby is six months old. The medical community has stated that there is no universal timeline for breastfeeding for all newborns. However, the decision to nursing a child is ultimately that of a mother. She can nurse her child for however long she wants.
