On March 11th, Lil Durk released 7220, an album that chronicles his family life in some of its songs.
The track titled Love Dior contains lines about Dior Banks’ late father and is about the rapper’s niece. The rapper DThang’s daughter Dior was shot and killed in 2021 when her brother Durk (also a rapper) was.
There is now a growing interest among fans in knowing more about Lil Durk’s mother, her sister, and her father. His father was released from prison in 2019.

Who is Dontay Banks?
Dontay Banks is Lil Durk’s father. The details of his life are unknown, but he hails from Chicago. Having lost his father when Durk was only seven months old, Durk grew up without his father in Englewood, Chicago.

At the time of his arrest, he was reported to be in possession of $8 million dollars, which have been seized.
Due to his dad’s imprisonment, Durk often spoke openly about the financial hardship he experienced as a child.
The reason he was prisoned
During a 1993 crack cocaine bust in Chicago, Dontay was arrested.
His sentence to life in prison was handed down along with four other men in July 1994. He remained there for almost 25 years.
A Chicago Tribune article reported on July 15th, 1994 that “The two men, Carneil Simmons, 48, and L.C. “Godfrey” 54, in testimony, said they had delivered more than 85 kilos of cocaine to Banks between the fall of 1991 and May of 1993.”
Despite spending 22 years in jail, Lil Durk’s father won an appeal in February 2019 and is now free.
Durk discusses his father’s release
In a recent interview with Streets Rap War, Lil Durk opened up about becoming a father again.
Durk mentioned that having his mom and dad together is crazy to him because he’s never been one of the ones who could say that.
Despite having been apart for 26 years, the couple has reconnected, and by the sounds of it, they are really close.
Lil Durk’s New Studio Album ‘7220’
Later this month, Lil Durk will release his next album, 7220. Ahead of a tour in April, the Chicago rapper has already released three singles from the LP, including “Pissed Me Off,” “Lion Eyes,” and “Broadway Girls,” featuring country singer Morgan Wallen.
Following last year’s The Voice of the Heroes, 7220 is named after his grandmother’s address. The album is scheduled to be released on February 22, the same day as Ye’s Donda sequel.
