Users who viewed the videos of the old monk started speculating the age of the monk while many of them said that he is 163 years old. However, the TikToker who shared the video of her monk father denied the rumored age of her father.

There’s a Japanese practice called Sokushinbutsu where the Buddhist monks get mummified while being alive. As such when the video of the Thai monk got viral, he looked very old and pale to which the users reacted that he is practicing Sokushinbutsu.
