Former NBA player Gilbert Arenas has decided to support Ja Morant amid the Grizzlies superstar’s recent strip club gun controversy.

Gilbert Arenas backs Ja Morant following the recent scandal

Ja Morant is making headlines for all the wrong reasons this weekend. Moreover, he found himself in trouble when he shared an Instagram Live video on Saturday.

In the video, Morant appears to he flash a gun while he was partying without a shirt at a strip club.

Although he is banned for two games and released a groveling apology, Morant received support from Gilbert Arenas. 

If you didn’t know, Arenas has dealt with his fair share of controversies during his career. Hence, the ex-Memphis point guard to his podcast to share his take on Morant’s recent scandal.

He said, ‘When we young, we do stupid s***. We do stupid s***.’

Arenas continued, ‘We’re trying to pretend that 23 is real old? 23 with a lot of money… there’s going to be some dumb s*** you do. Some of us get caught, some of us don’t.’

Furthermore, then Arenas was put in a hypothetical scenario. He was asked about what would he do with the Morant scandal if he was the owner of the Memphis Grizzlies.

He explained, ‘I’m the owner? I’m gonna do what every owner does: pretend I don’t see it.’

Arenas added, ‘I don’t see nothing. Just grow up a little bit faster. You got too much time on your hands. You got to put Ja around somebody who’s been the same way and actually got out of it safely.’

Ja Morant’s previous gun-related controversies

Ja Morant has reportedly been involved in four alleged gun-related incidents in the past couple of months. In addition, the recent strip club video is another piece of news in a string of controversies. 

If you didn’t know, Morant was sued in September last year for allegedly punching a 17-year-old Tennessee young boy in the face.

Moreover, the incident took place during a pickup game and the point guard claims that the action was in self-defense.

Meanwhile, the boy talked to cops at the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office. He revealed that Morant hit him ’12 to 13 times’ and shared that his friends also struck him ‘four to five times.’

Besides that, Morant reportedly brandished a gun in front of the teenager when he got up to leave after the fight was over.
