Mental health influencer, Niece Waidhofer tragically dies after committing suicide
Niece Waidhofer fans became concerned when, seemingly out of the blue, she wiped out all her pictures from her Instagram page leaving only three posts.
The first was of the day she got engaged to her partner while the second was a short clip of her dog. The last one was a random selfie she snapped in a car nearly three months ago.
Waidhofer had around 4.2 million users following her Instagram page.
Regardless, suspicions grew more when the model altogether disappeared from social media platforms around a month or two ago.
Nevertheless, her family also started worrying. They contacted Houston’s authorities to conduct a welfare check on Waidhofer.
However, they found her lifeless body.
As of now, law enforcement officials are convinced that Waidhofer took her own life since there were no signs of foul play and based on the manner her body was discovered.
According to TMZ, a charitable organization called ‘Peace from Niece’ will be established to honor the model.
The non-profit will continue Waidhofer’s goal to raise awareness about mental health. They will also provide funds for research on mental illnesses.
Niece Waidhofer’s family released a statement to confirm the influencer’s tragic death
On Thursday, Niece Waidhofer’s family shared the devastating news that sent shockwaves across the internet.
They wrote, ‘Sadly, Niece took her own life after a long battle with mental health issues.’
The statement further revealed, ‘She was very open with her followers about her struggles, even wanting to help followers who also suffered.’
They also shared, ‘Niece was more than her struggles. She was beautiful and kind, sensitive and funny, creative and talented, generous and compassionate, thoughtful and challenging.’
Waidhofer’s family added, ‘While it is so very painful to say goodbye, we take comfort knowing she is reunited with her father, her three grandparents, her Uncle Rusty, and her beloved Puff; and that she is now free to be herself and, finally, at peace.’
It is reported that Waidhofer will be laid to rest in a private ceremony consisting of only close friends and family members.
