According to the department, early Wednesday morning, the CMPD officer died in a crash on Interstate 85 South at W.T Harris Boulevard. It involved two tractor-trailers and a CMPD cruiser.
Around 3:30, the officer was trying to stop the traffic on the freeway where the previous incident took place. In the incident, a tractor-trailer collided with the officer’s police car. Officer Goodwin was assigned to the University City Division of Charlotte Mecklenburg.
