Jon Zazula, also known as Jonny Z was the founder of the record label Megaforce Records. In addition, he was an American music industry executive who owned Rock’n Roll Heaven record store in New Jersey. Zazula was a key figure in the East Coast metal scene, regularly playing demo tapes he received from Brian Slagel of Metal Blade Records, Ron Quintana, and producer Mark Whitaker, through his record store in East Brunswick, New Jersey.

She said that in addition to the music he brought to the world, Jon Zazula lived a life as fast, hard, heavy, powerful, and impactful as his own life. Furthermore, she added that Zazula fueled the careers of some of the most influential metal bands and industry greats of our time with his passion and persistence.
The rock music personality died thirteen months following the death of his wife. His wife Marsha succumbed to cancer at the age of 68. Marsha and Jon Zazula were the co-founders of Megaforce Records. They were married since 1979 and have three daughters.
