What is ulcerative colitis?

Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) that causes ulcers in the digestive tract is known as ulcerative colitis. The condition affects the lining of the “large intestine (colon) and rectum,” according to the Mayo Clinic. The university medical facility also stated that the sickness manifests itself over time rather than appearing suddenly.

Abdominal pain, bloody faeces, diarrhoea, or the inability to pass stool from the rectum despite the urge to defecate are all common signs of the condition. Furthermore, the condition might lead to weight loss, as Brian Austin Green experienced. Ulcerative colitis can also limit the growth of children.

Despite the fact that the disease is not lethal, several medical literature say that it can be fatal if “life-threatening” complications occur. It can cause dehydration or raise the risk of colon rupture, cancer, and blood loss in some people.
