United States Representative Ilhan Omar, a native of Somalia, received both applause and jeers on Saturday, July 2 during the Somali music festival in Minnesota. On Saturday night, the Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party delegate took the stage during a performance by the Somali musician Suldan Serar Guhad.
Omar appeared on stage at the event at the Target Center in Minneapolis, where the crowd appeared unimpressed by his presence. Omar had made an appearance at the Somali Week event, which commemorated the nation’s 62nd year of independence, to give Serar an award.
After the incident’s viral video went viral, several people asserted that Omar was not booed by the crowd. It is evident that some audience members were not too happy to see Omar. Since they yelled obscenities at her to show their desire to have her removed off the platform.
At the music event for Somali Week, Ilhan Omar performs: The crowd yells “Get out”
The congresswoman from Minnesota received harsh jeers as she was speaking on stage. The audience may be seen booing Omar for more than a minute on online versions of the video footage from the event. One concertgoer who saw her during the performance exclaimed:
“Get the f**k out of here,” was said.
Toward Ilhan Omar, the mob is heard yelling “Get out” in another scene from the video. A person on stage is purportedly heard addressing the audience at some time during her performance when she could not speak over the chants and booing from the audience.
The 39-year-old woman can also be heard addressing the audience in the viral footage as they jeer at her. She pleaded with them to stop and said:
“OK, OK, OK, OK, OK, we don’t have all night.”
Tim Mynett, a politician and political consultant, was with Ilhan Omar at the occasion. On her Twitter, Omar also posted the event’s footage. The representative was seen entering the stage in the footage. But before the booing starts, the video ends after only 14 seconds. Omar included a staged photo of herself and Suldan Serar Guhad in one of her tweets (aka Sultan).
Yeah they definitely weren't booing… when will certain groups learn that different ethnic cultures around the world cheer differently? Or do these certain groups believe they set the standard for the rest of the world?

Btw I'm not fond of her and I can tell the difference smh
Why did the audience boo Ilhan Omar?
Ilhan Omar was jeered by the crowd at the Somali Week event at Minneapolis’ Target Center, although it’s unclear why. But one of the things that made Omar contentious to certain people was her opinion on the recent Roe v. Wade decision by the US Supreme Court. She has expressed her anger at the recent US Supreme Court ruling and is a vocal proponent of abortion rights.

Ilhan Omar stated in a press release that, millions of pregnant mothers and women across are devastated by this choice. “I find it outrageous that this right-wing court is reversing decades of progress and forbidding people from having personal control over their bodies. Let’s be clear: Anyone who supports the 14th amendment and thinks there are restrictions on how much the government may influence our private decisions has been dealt a blow by this judgement.”

Ilhan Omar also suggested on June 30 that Minneapolis is more violent than a Somali refugee camp. At the Minneapolis North High School Gun Violence Community Conversation, the 39-year-old native of Mogadishu addressed the audience.
These remarks may have infuriated some concertgoers on Monday. It’s not known, though, if people who were born in the US or Somalia made up the majority of the Somali Week concert’s attendance.
