Usher clarified that his account had been hacked after fans speculated about the suspicious timing of the deletion, linking it to his close connection with Sean “Diddy” Combs, who was recently arrested on federal sex trafficking and racketeering charges.
The 45-year-old artist’s announcement came after fans noticed that his entire X feed had been wiped, including posts, media, and replies, leading to rumors and conspiracy theories circulating online. The theories were fueled by Usher’s longstanding professional relationship with Diddy, which dates back to the early days of his career in the 1990s when Combs executive produced Usher’s debut album. In his post at 6:13 p.m. ET on Sunday, Usher wrote, “Account got hacked and damn y’all ran with it! 😂😂😂 See you tonight at Intuit Dome ✌🏾👀✌🏾,” clarifying that the deletion of his tweets was not intentional. He also reassured fans that he would continue performing as scheduled, with the message referencing his appearance at Los Angeles’ Intuit Dome later that night as part of his Past, Present, Future
While Usher quickly addressed the hacking, fans couldn’t help but point out the odd timing. The deletion happened just days after Diddy’s arrest on serious charges, which reignited conversations about his past relationships with other celebrities, including Usher. The two artists have a history going back to when a young Usher lived with Diddy in New York during the 1990s.
