Joe Biden, the President of the United States is a great leader however many don’t know if he has served in the military or not. Although, it isn’t compulsory for a president to have served in the military. But Biden certainly has some connection with the military. Does that mean he has served in the military?

Has Joe Biden served in the military?

Joe Biden, the President of the United States might have been playing a different role in the country. However, he has always had a connection with the military. He is often seen among the military men. But the question that’s often asked about him is whether he has himself served in the military or not?

Well, Joe Biden hasn’t served in the military. Despite having military drafts in the Vietnam era. Certain exemptions existed as well. During a medical examination, Biden was under the classification I-Y. It implied that Biden would have to serve in the military only at the time of national emergency.

Joe Biden’s son Beau Biden served in the military

Though Joe Biden might not have served in the military himself. His late son Beau Biden certainly did. Beau Biden was there in the US Armed Forces. In the military, he served as the Major in Delaware Army National Guard. It was during the war going on in Iraq.

Beau Biden also received Bronze Star during his service in the military. Yet, Beau Biden lost his life back in the year 2015 after battling brain cancer. Posthumously, the late Beau Biden was given the Legion Of Merit. Joe Biden and his wife have been proud of their son’s journey though.

Joe Biden’s other son Hunter Biden served in the military too

It wasn’t just Beau Biden who served in the military. But Joe Biden’s other son Hunter too served in the military. Hunter had decided to join US Navy as an officer when he was 43. Though the tenure of Hunter was a short one due to a drug test coming out positive.

Hunter was discharged from his military service shortly in the year 2014. Moreover, Joe Biden has been always supportive of the military men and he is often seen encouraging them as well. Though he himself wouldn’t have got the chance to serve in the uniform for the country.
