Tyler1 Addresses Controversy Involving Transphobia and Racism Allegations; xQc Weighs In
4 min readPopular Twitch streamer and League of Legends player Tyler Steinkamp, known as “Tyler1,” has found himself in the midst of controversy following contentious remarks made by his girlfriend, Macaiyla, involving the LGBTQ community. The remarks, which have since been deleted, sparked significant backlash and led to accusations of transphobia and racism against Tyler1.
The controversy began when Macaiyla interacted with an X user and wrote, “He (Tyler1) doesn’t like you people (referring to the LGBTQ community) either.” This comment quickly drew the ire of the online community, leading to a wave of criticism directed at both Macaiyla and Tyler1. In response, Tyler1 took to his Twitch stream on August 3 to address the situation, expressing his frustration at being dragged into the controversy “against his will.”

You're crashing out over a woman who isn't even trans but great timing to let us know ur both transphobic right after he got announced as an LCS costreamer !! very smart and talented individual pic.twitter.com/pwzPWW8l2M
Tyler1 clarified his stance, stating that he is not well-informed on the topic and prefers not to be involved in such discussions. “Bro, I am uneducated. I am ignorant to comment on any of that by the way. I have no thoughts or no say. I do not know any of (this),” he said during his stream. He also addressed accusations of racism that had surfaced amid the backlash. “People were like, ‘Yeah, I could just tell he was like that. Yeah, he’s also a racist.’ I was like, ‘Wait, what?’ ‘Cause I’m reading some wild sh*t. What is happening?” Tyler1 expressed confusion and dismay at the unfounded accusations.
Furthermore, Tyler1 apologized for the drama that had ensued, emphasizing that his stream is intended to be a “safe space” free from such conflicts. “Apologies for the drama. I know we don’t deal with this here, but I was thrown into this against my will. So again, I apologize that we had to deal with that. This is a safe space,” he reiterated to his viewers.

Macaiyla, on the other hand, issued a public apology for her comments through her official X.com account. Her message was an attempt to mitigate the backlash and clarify her stance. “I would like to start off by saying that I apologize to not only the trans community but all of the LGBTQ+ supporters for my comments,” she wrote. Additionally, she expressed regret for implicating Tyler1 in her remarks, acknowledging that her actions were out of line. “I would also like to apologize to Tyler for speaking on his behalf out of pure ignorance and heat of the moment. It’s wrong of me to want to spread hate through someone else’s mouth, especially when their opinions extremely differ from opinions of my own.”
The controversy also caught the attention of fellow streamer Felix “xQc,” who shared his thoughts during his latest stream. xQc seemed particularly pleased with the situation, describing it as Macaiyla getting “canceled” for her remarks. “I woke up and I just felt very sad. So many things were just bad and sad and I opened up Twitter on my phone and chat, I am not kidding, Macaiyla canceled. Chat, I used to pray for times like these,” xQc said, expressing his satisfaction. He further added, “I cannot tell you the excitement that I had. Chat, it was hard to hold back. I had tears of joy. Holy sh*t. Finally! Boom! Chat, that’s a Twitter max win! Macaiyla canceled as soon as I woke up? I can’t.”
