Edwin F. McPherson, attorney for Travis Scott, says city officials “have sent conflicting messages and backtracked from their original statements” regarding Friday’s events.

After the deadly tragedy at Astroworld Festival, Travis’s lawyer points to “inconsistent messages” sent by officials. According to Edwin F. McPherson, Scott’s attorney, city officials have been “pointing fingers” and “retracting from their statements” regarding Friday’s events in a statement to People on Wednesday.

STATEMENTS OF PRODUCERS AND ENTERTAINERS

The show’s producers and entertainers alone have the authority to end performance, Finner said during a press conference on Wednesday. “The ultimate authority to terminate the show rests with the producers and the entertainer,” he added.

Adding to the report, McPherson states: “the Operations Plan stipulates only the festival director and executive producers are authorized to stop Travis’s show, neither of which are associated with Travis. The plan contradicts previous actions taken by HPD.”

STATEMENTS OF PEOPLE CLOSE TO TRAVIS

In an interview with People, an insider said Scott couldn’t see or hear beyond the inner-ear producers before the performance, adding that no one told him to stop the performance until he finished at 10:10 p.m. local time.

“Scott couldn’t see what was happening because the lights were beaming in his eyes,” the source told PEOPLE. “He thought someone just passed out during a concert.”

The Houston Chronicle reports that at least 36 lawsuits have been filed against Scott following a fatal crowd surge on Friday night that left eight people dead and over 300 injured.
