Canadian rapper Tory Lanez’s marriage news while serving a 10-year prison sentence has gone viral on the internet. Lanez is now married to his fiancée, Raina Chassagne, according to court records for the musician’s bail that were leaked on September 1, 2023, by reporter Meghann Cuniff on her Twitter account, @meghanncuniff. “The relationship status of Tory Lanez has changed rapidly since he announced his engagement at his sentencing hearing to his bail motion wedding announcement.” Cuniff wrote on Twitter. Lanez, true name Daystar Shemuel Shua Peterson, has been imprisoned since December 23, 2022, after being convicted of shooting Megan Thee Stallion.

Tory, Megan, and her then-friend Kelsey Harris were embroiled in a drunken roadside brawl after leaving a party at Kylie Jenner’s house in 2020. Lanez stated at his sentencing hearing that Megan is someone he still cares about and that he regrets the things he said during their 2020 feud. While the judge considered Lanez’s previous spotless record and his other charity endeavours while determining the sentencing, the arguments that “Sometimes good people do bad things” were rejected. Tory Lanez has completed his sentence of 305 days. On September 5, 2023, he is expected to appear in court to discuss his application for bail.

As stated in a new legal motion addressing Tory Lanez’s bail, he now has a wife. Tory Lanez is requesting bail in the Superior Court of Los Angeles, according to legal journalist Meghann Cuniff’s story published on Friday (Sept. 1), as he appeals his felony conviction & 10-year jail term for shooting Megan Thee Stallion. If given bond, he would reside in Los Angeles alongside his wife, Raina Chassagne, & their 6-year-old son Kai, according to the paperwork. The pair intends to live close to Lanez’s father, stepmother, and other siblings. This is noteworthy since Raina Chassagne was previously reported as Lanez’s child’s mother, but she is now acknowledged to be his wife. “The relationship status of Tory Lanez has changed dramatically in the last few weeks, from his engagement announcement during the sentencing hearing to the announcement of his upcoming marriage following his bail motion,” Cuniff wrote.
There is no information available about when or how the couple married. Raina Chassagne was present during Tory Lanez’s (born Daystar Peterson) sentencing hearing on August 8, when Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge David V. Herriford sentenced him to ten years in prison, with credit for 305 days served. “Upon release, Mr. Peterson will maintain his sobriety, and have no contact with the victim, nor shall he or any of the people associated with him by his direction contact her on social media or by other means,” according to the motion, as reported by Cuniff. “Mr. Peterson is a well-known musician; evade arrest.” Through his talent and philanthropy, he has become a household name.” A hearing to examine the motion filed with Judge Herriford is scheduled for Tuesday (Sept. 5). Cuniff interviewed many attorneys for her story, and they noted that bail applications pending appeal are rarely granted, especially for a heinous charge like Tory’s first-degree assault with a firearm conviction.
