TMZ blocks Johnny Depp’s attempt to call in their former employee to take a stand in the ongoing case

Johnny Depp’s lawyers had plans to call TMZ’s former employee to take a stand amid the ongoing controversial defamation libel case. However, it was wasted when the news outlets blocked their attempts.
According to the court documents obtained by Radar, EHM Productions, TMZ’s owner, has filed for an emergency motion to prevent their ex-employee from testifying in the highly publicized defamation case between Johnny Depp and Amber Heard.

As per Variety, TMZ is seeking to prevent Morgan Tremaine, field assignment manager, from testifying in support of Johnny Depp.
The gossip page’s attorney disclosed a statement. It read, ‘TMZ promised this source that it would maintain their confidentiality and would not disclose their name or other information about them.’
They added, ‘TMZ makes such promises of confidentiality, from time to time, so that it may publish information in the public interest, and it relies on the journalist’s privilege protecting the identity of confidential sources to do so.’
The California-based news organization has further asked for Tremaine to be barred from taking a stand in the Fairfax, Virginia courtroom. TMZ does not want their former worker from disclosing any confidential information during the testimony.
The outlet is seeking to protect the identity of the source who provided them with the video of Johnny Depp shouting at Amber Heard as he keeps slamming cabinets.
Depp’s team has further not stated the questions they ask Tremaine if he took the stand.
TMZ’s counsel argued that any evidence Tremaine would offer will be immaterial to their ongoing case.
Depp’s attorney, Camille Vasquez, has previously suggested that Heard tipped off TMZ when she filed a restraining order against Depp. The actress however has denied the allegation.
