According to court documents obtained by Insider, Miley Cyrus’ mother, Tish Cyrus, filed for divorce from Billy Ray Cyrus after 28 years of marriage.
According to court documents obtained by USA TODAY, Tish Cyrus filed for divorce in Tennessee on Wednesday, citing irreconcilable differences. The couple has not lived together for more than two years, according to the divorce complaint.
Because of the divorce filing, a statutory restraining order was immediately imposed, preventing the couple from harassing each other.
It isn’t the first time Miley Cyrus’ parents have called their quits
This isn’t the first time Miley Cyrus’ parents have called it quits on their marriage. Billy Ray Cyrus filed for divorce in 2010, but withdrew it a few months later. Tish Cyrus then filed for divorce in 2013, but the pair eventually decided to reconcile.
Tish Cyrus, who oversees her daughter Miley’s career, and the country singer have five children: Brandi, 34, Trace, 33, Miley, 29, Braison, 27, and Noah, 22.
Billy Ray Cyrus’ career
Billy Ray Cyrus made his debut in the early 1990s with a long brown mullet, tattered T-shirts that showed off his muscular arms, and basketball sneakers instead of cowboy boots, and has remained a pop culture constant ever since.
From his breakthrough in 1992 with “Achy Breaky Heart,” to appearing alongside his daughter Miley in the blockbuster Disney sitcom “Hannah Montana,” to finally winning his first Grammy trophy for the equally hilarious and controversial hit “Old Town Road,” the Kentucky singer and actor continued striking gold.
Billy Ray Cyrus spoke to People in 2016 about the difficulties in his marriage.
“It’s the same with everything in life,” Cyrus explained. “You take it one step at a time,” says the narrator. One day at a time, that’s what I’m going to do. Making adjustments is one of the most crucial things in life and in a relationship, in my opinion.”
Tish Cyrus has been a continuous presence by Miley Cyrus’ side during big occasions and concerts.
