The Bad Bunny show at the Estadio Azteca Friday night in Mexico City was a dream come true for some fans. Some of the concertgoers, however, were victims of a scam, with Ticketmaster Mexico cancelling their tickets at the door because they were fake and angry fans demanding entry. Bunny’s first night in Mexico City, which marked the end of his tour, was not able to be attended by many people who had arrived hours and even days earlier. Isla Mujeres native Valeria Carrillo, who said she paid over 9.000 Mexican pesos (some $455) for her ticket, was one of the unlucky fans. In order to get into the stadium, she had to wait in line from early in the morning. Unfortunately, she was unable to do so. I did not plan to travel from Isla Mujeres to have this happen to me! Valeria Carrillo told Billboard Español, in tears.

Security blocked some desperate fans from getting inside the stadium by climbing over the main gates. An unprecedented number of fake tickets led to a not normal agglomeration of people and intermittent access to the system, according to a press release posted on Saturday by Ticketmaster Mexico. People with legitimate tickets were denied access to the stadium because of the confusion generated by the above,” according to the release. It was announced by the Federal Attorney for Mexican Consumers (PROFECO) that an investigation had been initiated and that those affected were asked to submit their complaints via a website provided by the institution. Despite the fact that only seven people had submitted complaints by Friday evening, PROFECO said more were expected.

Bad Bunny Ends His World Hottest Tour In Mexico City With Ticket Controversy

Hundreds of Bad Bunny fans were stranded at the Mexico City concert on Saturday, December 10, following their refusal to enter. The American company Ticketmaster is once again in the spotlight after getting caught up in a ticket fiasco during Taylor Swift’s November concert. Many attendees visiting Estadio Azteca had invalid tickets, meaning they were either fakes, duplicates, or cancelled by Ticketmaster, according to Vulture. Following the drama, the company’s Mexico-based Twitter handle apologized and promised a refund to the affected fans. Ticketmaster Mexico responded to the fans’ tweet by announcing a refund for legitimate ticket holders who were not able to attend the Bad Bunny concert in Mexico City, on 9th December 2022. In the midst of all the chaos, Ticketmaster Mexico revealed that the blunder occurred due to an “unprecedented” number of counterfeit tickets. Therefore, many “legitimate” tickets were invalidated. So, fans with legitimate tickets who were denied entry to the stadium with an 80,000+ capacity will get a refund from the ticket sales and distribution company.

Ticket-holders who were unable to access the “sold out” Bad Bunny concert will be contacted by the organization. Aside from the repayments, Ticketmaster also confirmed its meeting with PROFECO, the Federal Prosecutor’s Office for Consumer Affairs. Aside from collaborating with them to resolve the issues, PROFECO will assist the impacted ticket holders in determining the facts. In spite of Ticketmaster’s damage control efforts, many netizens and Bad Bunny fans reacted to the news and trotted the ticket retailer with their opinions. According to one user, Ticketmaster has the bad bunny fans and Taylor Swift fans against them. I think you should really spread the news about this since buying tickets for concerts in Mexico is HELL. The same thing happened at Dua Lipa’s concert, Coldplay and Corona Capital Festival, another user wrote. The controversy was not addressed by Bad Bunny. However, Bullet Train star and two-time Grammy Award winner Bad Bunny thanked his Mexican and American fans in a recent tweet.
