In the wake of Fox News’s parent company settling a defamation lawsuit worth over $787 million with Dominion Voting Systems, the announcement came as a surprise. There has been an agreement between Fox News Media and Tucker Carlson to part ways. In a statement released on Monday, April 24, the network thanked him for his service as a host and contributor. According to the New York Post, ‘Fox News Tonight’ will replace Carlson’s signature show and air live on an interim basis. Until a new host is selected, Fox News personalities will host the new show. As a result of Carlson’s firing, fans of the host took to Twitter to criticize Fox News. One wrote I’m dropping them; they’re the only news I watch. I’m done with Fox! stated the second user. A third user commented: I also cancelled my Fox Nation subscription. They oppose Trump.

Another fan claimed that there wasn’t a man onboard who could talk honestly about him, he claimed. An angry fan said that Fox News will regret firing Tucker Carlson from the network, and another said that it would be the biggest mistake the company has ever made. Social media users also shared ‘I stand with Tucker Carlson’ messages in support of Carlson. Fox News was heavily criticized for the firing of Carlson, but the network has been in trouble since Dominion Voting System filed a $1.6 billion defamation lawsuit against it after airing unverified claims of election fraud surrounding Joe Biden’s win in the 2020 US presidential election and claiming Donald Trump was unfairly deprived of his victory. A last-minute settlement, worth more than $700 million, has been reached between Fox News and Dominion just before the trial. A former federal prosecutor appeared on The Stephanie Miller Show after the settlement was announced and said, I think this could be the beginning of the end for Fox. He also predicted that Fox News would face more legal troubles and that there would be “more suits to come,” in reference to Smartmatic’s $2.7 billion lawsuit involving the network’s election coverage.
